I agree with your statement but find it peculiar as a reason for reject,
oh well...

(Verifying that the stated information is incorrect is quite easy by
just looking at the git repository for a few seconds.)

I now see two other options:

a/ drop the patch and upload again (but I suspect the discrepancy
   between debian/copyright and upstream will cause a reject)

b/ just repeat the the known incorrect information in debian/copyright
   and prentend like it's raining.

Option b/ is what I recommended to Lluis before we uploaded, but I
didn't feel like saying no when he instead went the extra mile for
correctness. Would be nice to have your statement on what will pass, to
avoid playing trial-and-error with uploads to NEW.
IMHO the above listed order (including what was just rejected) would be
my personal preference (but I'm not legally trained and prefer factual
truth rather than what the legal system might prefer).
