Do you mean autodep8 here? I don't see how autopkgtest could be to
blame, but please enlighten me.

It's hard to believe otherwise. The test has now been performed on a
daily basis since 2019-10-13 and has been failing systematically for the
new version, while it systematically passes for the old version (in
testing, of which the latest one was today). In unstable, the switch
from passing to failing was with the upload of the new version.
