I actually noticed the piuparts error yesterday and uploaded 2:1.4.2-3
last night with a fix. :)

I mimicked the way I had handled this in the "hy" package, which in
turn I had learned from "vim". I notice there are a number of
bike-sheds on the topic of where it's necessary to perform these
actions though (#45614, #71621, #582873), and even talk of a
"dh_alternatives" helper to make this less error-prone, which was my
first thought when I realized I'd forgotten to add the remove bits.
(ie, why isn't there a dh_alternatives to write this shell boilerplate
for me?)
