Hi!

One of the recent upstream developments for golang sees adding
support for the sparc64 architecture [1]. While this code has
not been merged into the official golang repositories yet, it's
basically feature complete and allows to bootstrap golang on
sparc64 with the testsuite passing all tests.

Currently, this port supports Solaris as the host operating system
only, however, support for OpenBSD/sparc64 and Linux/sparc64 will
be added in the near future as it will require rather little work
to port golang to these targets with generic sparc64 support
already being in place.

I have opened an issue on the github project page for the sparc64
port and have forwarded this bugreport to it [2]. Once bootstrapping
golang on Linux/sparc64 is possible, we will build the initial
golang-1.x package for sparc64 and upload it to 'unreleased' and
possibly attach a patch to this bug report which adds sparc64
support to the current golang-1.x package in Debian so sparc64
can be enabled as an additional architecture for golang in
Debian.

Thanks,
Adrian
