Osmosis version too old on Squeeze

Hello

Current Osmosis version ceased to work  mid-February 2013 because  id's 
exceeded 32-bit unsigned integer max value.

What would be preferred solution; either install Osmosis from sources or 
wait for Wheezy update or do you have  plans to update the package in 
Squeeze?
