This seems to have been caused by the earlier GSL 2.0 packages, QGIS
2.8.4 (currently in NEW) was built with GSL 2.1 and has the correct
libgsl dependencies in the Dymatic Section (as reported by objdump -x):

  NEEDED               libgsl.so.19
  NEEDED               libgslcblas.so.0
