Like geos (#791045) and basically all other library transitions [1] for
the Debian GIS team, I'll be conservative and assume that transition is
required.

I've pushed a gcc5 branch with changes to append v5 to the library
package names. I'm not attaching the patch, nor reassigning this issue
because the package will need to be built on all architectures to
collect the symbols. That will require an upload to experimental first,
but it seem premature to do this already, if the GCC 5 transition
doesn't happen soon.
