h5utils is missing a dependency on liboctave:

$ ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/octave/3.8.2/site/oct/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/h5read.oct

  liboctinterp.so.2 => not found
  liboctave.so.2 => not found
  […]
                                                                                                
My understanding is that h5read.oct is not detected by dh_shlibdeps because its
executable bit has been previously removed by dh_fixperms (to be verified).
