Just some info: I noticed that qgis fails to build on launchpad if
grass7 is present in the same repository, even though grass6 is
available from universe.

As a fix, you can build in a repository containing the same version of
gdal (and other dependencies) and copy to ubuntugis without
rebuilding.

Unless there is a different solution I'm not aware of.
