In the context of this issue, I'm mostly interested in the existing 
users of Debian GIS packages.

I don't think D-I is a good place to learn about new things in Debian, 
that should happen before the installer is booted or after installation 
when the system is explored.

I'd love to have a good mechanism to survey our users about their needs, 
but I suspect that would be more beneficial in Ubuntu where more of the 
userbase resides.
