Yes, that's entirely expected for C++ libraries.

The downside is that symbols that shouldn't have disappeared get drowned out in the noise, it's easy to miss those. That just comes with the territory of symbols files for C++ libraries.

If you'd use dh_makeshlibs -V (which is default since debhelper-compat 12) you wouldn't see such changes either.

Strip the missing symbols, and do a test rebuild of the rdeps (only tiff at time of writing) if you want to be sure none of them broke.
