Sorry for the delay.

I'm not at the stage of having a workable packaging, I'm afraid, and
wasn't initially aiming for something that would be acceptable for
Debian, just a normal /opt installation. For my purposes, it has to be
a shareable installation (in a stateless cluster), and I'm not sure
whether that's even possible with Debian packaging constraints. (It's
possible a shared installation can legitimately live under /srv -- I
don't know.) I'm not a dpkg/Debian policy expert, and still trying to
learn what's involved.
I have been trying to maintain something that at least doesn't need
patching for Debian, though my attempt to make the editor configurable
to "sensible-editor", or whatever it is, fell foul of the horrors of csh
which the nasty build process currently relies on.
I can't devote significant time to this just now, partly because I'm
trying to get out a general release, but I should be able to get back to
it. Judging by the recent random NMU, and past experience, I'm not
going to be able to do much directly for Debian, though.
