Hi,

systems with 4GB or more are becomming more and more common and grub
fails to boot on them without these patches applied.

It makes the kernel-image packages fail and thus makes the
debian-installer fail making debian uninstallable on many system.

I strongly encourage you to rething those patches and to add them to
the debian package while they are not added upstream.
