Bug#187848: sarge on compaq deskpro

to start off,

I had to install the system on a different machine (since i wiped the
Deskpro's BIOS while partitioning).

When I moved the HDD over to the deskpro, it started grub just fine - then i
selected my kernel and it said "booting..."

After it said "booting..." it rebooted itself and started in this cycle and
I never actually got it to boot up.

Just adding my 2 cents.
