It's been supported for a while, but it's not enabled by default.
Luis R. Rodriguez <mcgrof@ruslug.rutgers.edu> is working on a package that
would contain only splashimages, so we can use this as a base for providing
a default splashimage setup with grub. I just pinged him today about his
progress.
