GRUB Legacy is frozen for new features.  I found this message from Okuji (the
GRUB maintainer) explaining the situation wrt reiser4 support:

If you want to integrate reiser4 support in GRUB, I suggest you focus on GRUB2.
Support for new features and filesystems is very needed there.  Thanks!
