My hdd setup was:

/dev/hda1 - swap
/dev/hda2 - linux

/dev/hdb1 - swap
/dev/hdb2 - linux   
/dev/hdb3 - linux <- Debian is there
/dev/hdb4 - linux


The BIOS is setup to boot from /dev/hdb first.

I haven't this hdd anymore (it was not broken, it lives happily in my sisters
computer), and I got a bigger one. Since I switched to LILO  in the 
meantime, I didn't tried it with GRUB again.
