Howdy,
>From my understanding, the section in README.Debian about adding hooks
to kernel-img.conf is not required (any longer). I certainly don't have
such entries, and I'm merrily getting menu.lst entries for new kernels I
install, and have been for some time.

Hi
I just tested it, and without the hooks in /etc/kernel-img.conf I don't
get update-grub to run when I install linux-image-2.6.15-1-686. So I
assume that the info in README.Debian is correct.
