Bug#401098: grub2: Stuck at boot prompt, requires manual entry of linux and initrd

Hi,

I installed grub2, copied menu.list to grub.cfg, ran grub-install and update-grub but now it gets stuck at the boot prompt and I have to manually enter linux and initrd 
before it'll boot.
Why?
