Bug#379733: Misunderstood inability of grubs activities?

   Dear Maintainers,

the original bugreport #379733 is probably due to a
misunderstanding. The condensed menu.lst of the
 reportee is as follows

      default saved
      timeout 3
      color ...

      title Debian
      ...
      savedefault
      boot

      title Debian (recovery)
      ....
      savedefault
      boot

and he prepared a default booting by commanding

    # grub-set-default 1.

The use of two plain "savedefault" in both boot
entries, quickly undermines the preparations of
"# grub-set-default 1". The correct modes of building
fail-safe fallbacks are clearly expressed in the
texinfo pages

     4.3.2 Booting fallback systems,
     4.3.2 Booting once-only.

The reportee should have used menu.lst like

     default saved
     fallback 1

     title Debian
     ....
     savedefault fallback

     title Debian (recovery)
     ....
     savedefault

My investigation of the source code, can it be
trusted, did not uncover any obvious shortcomings.
It seems to me, that the maintainers should be able
to remove #379773 without taking any further actions.

        Regards
                   Mats Erik Andersson
