I'm totally puzzled on this one. Can you verify that these files contained
the detected information when this bug was found?

If they do, I'd suggest to report this upstream. It _does_ sound strange,
since I can confirm grub-probe works properly on powerpc (there were some
endianess/etc issues, which I fixed).
