Bug#422759: grub: sorting suffixes w/ mixed numeric and non-numeric characters

We're most likely going to replace this code completely in a few months, due to
migration to grub2.  I'm afraid you might be wasting your efforts in trying to
improve it...  Please, have a look at the update-grub implementation in grub2.
It's still premature and lacks features, but the design is IMHO very clean and
scalable.
