Bug#494589: fix for /boot/grub/core.img issue

We believe that these three bugs are all caused by the same problem, which is
now fixed in latest upload to experimental (1.96+20080826-1).

If you can, please try that version and confirm that the problem is fixed for
you.  If it's not, tell us about it as soon as you can.

And if you wish to reopen the bug as well, please unmerge it first.
