Doesn't look like it:

      if (hook (disk_name))
        return 1;

although perhaps I'm missing something, but it is not obvious.  This needs
deeper inspection.

That could also be..

In any case, it is better if you bring this up in grub-devel instead.  That
means more eyes staring at your description of the problem, thus more chances
to find a solution.
