Bug#464912: grub1 cruft left behind after transition

I've upgraded to grub 2, and per the debconf suggestion, I first let my
old grub 1 chain-load grub 2 for testing, and then used grub-install and 
update-grub to install grub 2.

(FWIW, I had to write down the commands debconf told me to run, it was a
little too long and complex to expect someone to remember it across reboots.)

Now I seem to have a certian amount of grub 1 cruft left in /boot/grub
that is no longer used, including menu.lst,
menu.lst_backup_by_grub2_postinst, menu.lst~, xfs_stage1_5, reiserfs_stage1_5,
stage1, stage2, e2fs_stage1_5, fat_stage1_5, jfs_stage1_5,
minix_stage1_5. 

I'm just guessing at which files belong to grub 1, and I obviously don't
want to guess wrong when rm-ing.

Could grub-pc perhaps include a upgrade-from-grub-1 script that handles
deleting these files, as well as running grub-install and update-grub?
