What happens if you run grub-emu and try:

grub> ls (fatoftheland-main)/

Do you see any specific error?  And if you do a "set debug=all" first?

Also, I notice that you don't have any /boot partition.  Does GRUB Legacy
even work here?  I can't see how LVM can be supported via embedding since
the first 2 kiB of disk are reserved for the LVM label already.
