retitle 436943 "error: out of partition" when trying to enter normal mode
submitter 436943 Alex Malinovich <demonbane at the-love-shack.net>
thanks
I hate it when this happens but, this bug has become a confusing mess!
Three different people reported breakage, but it isn't necessarily the same
one. When in doubt, it is better if you file a separate bug and let the
maintainer merge if appropiate.
There are dozens of reasons why you could get dumped into rescue mode.
GRUB didn't properly report the reason you get into rescue mode untill very
recently. Alex was the first of you three to get this message, so I'll
retitle the bug and from now on it only applies to the error he reported.
Hugo and Adam, if you can still reproduce this, try the latest version,
which will tell you the reason it can't get to normal mode. But *still*
file a separate bug. "out of partition" is too generic to assume it is
the same problem for all of you.

Alex, what is your filesystem in (hd0,1)/ ?
Can you identify the problem if you do:
set debug=all
ls (hd0,1)/boot
?
