Bug#488840: please allow the use of flavours like grub1

Package: grub2
Version: 1.96+20080626-1
Severity: wishlist

With grub1, one could add flavours of each kernel, i.e. additional
entries in the grub menu which would pass different parameters to
the kernel. Single-user mode was implemented like that in grub1.

Now, single-user mode is hard-coded and I cannot find a sensible way
to add flavours to grub.cfg.

Having this functionality would also take care of #476536.
