# grub-probe --device-map=/boot/grub/device.map -t device /
/dev/sda1

Apparently, not anymore.

Grub is still version 0.97-41: no idea what's different.  What can I
say...  a glitch in the matrix... a disturbance in the force...

I guess you can close the bug.
