   Yes, unfortunately it is.  I just tested 0.97-41 and it still has the 
problem.  The last version that doesn't have the problem is grub-0.97-32 -- 
I've been having to force downgrade back to that version and then keep the 
package on hold.

   Pavel Roskin on the grub-devel mailing list made a suggestion that the 
problem might be fixed by having Grub check the magic number on the first 
sector of the partition to see if it's an Apple partition or a PC partition:

   Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out how to implement his 
suggestion yet.  I think the magic number Pavel was talking about is actually 
0xAA55 based on this:

   I'll bring it up on the grub-devel mailing list again to see if I can get 
some help figuring out how to get this fixed.
