Bug#473543: if grub.cfg is to big grub-pc (and maybe others) fails to load it and reboot infinitely

But anyway:

I tested it now with 1.96+20080724-1 currently in unstable in VMware Workstation 6.5 Beta build 99530
with other Linux 2.6 64bit as OS

As I already said for me both configs show the menu in grub-emu when I place them in /boot/grub/grub.cfg and just start grub-emu.
But now I placed your grub.cfg.break in /boot/grub/grub.cfg and rebooted.
Welcome to GRUB is shown. then it takes a little while and then VMware fails with vcpu-0:ASSERT vmcore/vmm/cpu/segment.c:521 
bugNr=19580
I tried the same config with just commenting out the insmod tga and background image part and it happend again.
Though I didn't check if VMware still showed the same error, probable it did.


It's a Beta of VMware but I think it shouldn't make that big difference for the GRUB Code running with a big config.
So the problem with your config is not fixed :(
