found 484228 1.96+20080617-1 thanks I got an unbootable system with this version too. Grub failed to locate the kernel. I use dm-crypt encrypted root over LVM. Had to boot from a rescue CD and enable GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID. Cheers, Marcus
