Bug#520028: grub2: Grub MBR and Vista

Package: grub2
Severity: minor

on page /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/html/grub_3.html#SEC7 it reports backing
up of mbr is not necessary as fdisk can be used on dos. Vista does not
have dos so the mbr backup method should be emphasized. I think the dd
if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=446 count=1 method blanks out mbr but not
sure if saved copy should be the 'dd' back.
I changed from dual boot vista debian to debian in vbox in vista but
made mistake of not removing grub from mbr and stage 1.5 halted. Tried
creating /boot/ partition on unallocated space (which windows always
has) and installed boot to get grub shell. From grub shell issued:
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
boot
Had vista going again but had to locate a free vista recovery disc on
internet to reset mbr as command line no longer has fdisk in vista!
