Package: grub2
Version: 1.97~beta3-1
Hi,
I'm bugreporting but I'm not sure it will be helpful nor if it's really a grub2 bug.
I updated from Lenny (fresh install) to Squeeze.
It installed grub2, chainloaded after grub1.
It worked fine and I was able to boot from grub2 menu.
I had to reinstall gnome, because I let some "autoclean"
uninstalling most of my packages, and so I had to reinstall new squeeze
packages of gnome.
I ran the 'upgrade-from-grub-legacy' command.
When prompted, I ticked my hard-drive so that it installs grub on it.
I rebooted.
Grub2 starts, it starts kernel 2.6.30, then it loads a bit, then kaboom! It asked me to fsck my /dev/sda6 partition.
I entered my admin password, then fscked it.
I reboot, then same problem for other partitions.
I
did something which I feared could have caused troubles: I started
fdisk, it detected a problem with some flag set to 000x0 (or something
like that on /dev/sda5 IIRC), it just asked to rewrite the partition table,
which I did.
Then I fscked other partitions (/dev/sda6 and /dev/sda8), then I rebooted, and it fortunately went fine !
=== Some infos about the partition table:

/dev/sda5 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
/dev/sda8 on /home type ext3 (rw)
binfmt_misc on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev)
=== Some other infos:
debian1525:/home/fab# fdisk /dev/sda
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 14593.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)
