Bug#536846: /boot/vmlinux entry cannot be booted

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.97~beta3-1
Severity: normal

I still see this problem with current GRUB 2. I have
"install_vmlinux := YES" in my ~/.kernel-pkg.conf , to install the
(unstripped) vmlinux for use with tools like systemtap, profilers, etc.
I recently tried installing a 2.6.31 kernel from source using
kernel-package, and I encountered this same problem with unbootable
entries in the grub menu.

As suggested in the upstream thread, this should probably become
arch-specific.

Better yet, the architectures which produce unbootable vmlinuz files
need RC bugs against either grub2 or the kernel, whichever actually
causes the problem. Do the vmlinuz files in question boot with other
bootloaders?
