Uh, but if you have a grub.cfg rather than a menu.lst then you're
definitely using GRUB 2, and GRUB 2 has always used 1-based partitions
rather than 0-based partitions, so (hd0,2) is definitely wrong and
(hd0,3) is definitely correct. Perhaps you could describe your setup in
more detail, from the start?
