Package: grub
Version: impossible to grub-install, grub1 worked well
Severity: important

Dear Sir,

I would like to report a bug with grub. Visibly this version of grub has still some further checking needed.

It is visibly not made simple to install something on the grub.
I know that now you are trying to use the UUID and blkid but still it seems that some issues are still to be overcome.

Lot of progress still remains to be made with this newer version of grub, which it seems much more complex to handle and code.

I wish you lot of courage with coding this grub.

In any cases LILO does not work so bright as grub.

I post here the issue:

root at debian05:/home/root/boot/grub#
root at debian05:/home/root/boot/grub#
root at debian05:/home/root/boot/grub# grub-install hd0
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot stat `hd0'.
Invalid device `hd0'.
Try `/usr/sbin/grub-setup --help' for more information.
root at debian05:/home/root/boot/grub# cd /boot/grub/
root at debian05:/boot/grub# less device.map
(hd0) /dev/sda
(hd1) /dev/sdb
(hd2) /dev/sdc
(hd3) /dev/sdd
(hd4) /dev/sde
root at debian05:/boot/grub# grub-install (hd0)
-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `hd0'
root at debian05:/boot/grub# grub-install /dev/sda
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: This GPT partition label has no BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible!.
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and its use is discouraged..
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: error: if you really want blocklists, use --force.
root at debian05:/boot/grub#

So no way to put something on the hd0 using grub, cuz no idea.
I am not coder nor developper, just n00b user.

Thank you if you can improve the grub 2
Best regards
Y.
