Yes, it was in /var/cache/debconf/config.dat and have been solved by
upgrading to 1.98+20100710-1 now.
It was below the line: "Name: grub-pc/install_devices"

I know that the number used by linux (0x305 for 1024x768x8) don't work
with grub. And now (with the new version i just updated to) the grub
number reported by vbeinfo (0x105 for 1024x768x8) works fine.
