The device-mapper warnings are annoying and verbose, but not actually
important unless you're using DM-RAID.  I'll try to get them fixed soon
but I doubt they're your real problem.

This looks a bit like GRUB failed to load your initramfs or something.
It's hard to tell from the information in this bug so far.  Could you
please tell us as much as possible about the disk layout on your system,
and also please attach /boot/grub/grub.cfg both from the version in
testing and from the version you tried unsuccessfully to upgrade to
(remove any passwords from it)?
