Thanks. Based on your statement that 'grub-install /dev/sda' fixes
things, it seems clear that this is another instance of #554790. I do
plan to fix this soon, but in the meantime, I recommend you run
'dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc' and select /dev/sda as the install device to
ensure that grub-install is run properly on future updates, which will
at least make things a bit safer for the time being.
