Here is some basic information:
* /dev/sda is the whole device
* /dev/sda1 is a windows partition that I want to get rid of once Linux
works for me: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11717
* /dev/sda2 is an extended partition
* /dev/sda5 is an ext4 filesystem with Linux
* /dev/sda6 is the swap partition
(This is from my memory, as I am not using that notebook right now).

... issuing a upgrade-from-grub-legacy fixed the problem for me. So, if
you want, just feel free to close this bug.
