Bug#574927: green console for GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

If I set

	GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
	GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x1024

in /etd/default/grub, then I get green chars on the console
right after I hit enter on the grub menu. If I drop gfxpayload,
then the chars are white, but I just get 80x25 chars.

This is a regression for 1.98-1. The host is a virtual host (kvm)
running Testing. I haven't seen this problem for a "real" host
yet.
