This file is actually shared between GRUB2 and GRUB1 in Debian and comes
from GRUB2 upstream. I fixed it upstream in GRUB2.
You don't need to actually install any GRUB to test it. It's enough to:
bzr branch http://bzr.savannah.gnu.org/r/grub/trunk/grub/
cd grub
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
sudo ./grub-probe -t fs <sdag1 mountpoint>
Last command should give you the FS of sdag1
