80 characters long, only on lines starting with "linux". This problem
still exists, it's quite clearly NOT a serious level bug.

Regarding the booting problems, it was caused by libc6 having a broken
ldd (see bug #615806) which caused problems for mkinitramfs which then
flowed on to borking the boot process.
grub.cfg looks the same before all this sadness happened and its working
so you can disregard the booting problem. I think I may of being
specifying an old initrd which was working which is why my grub command
line boots worked.

sorry for the false alarm, i never even though of checking ldd worked.
