In my case, I have the following packages on the domU:


# dpkg --list | grep grub
ii  grub-common                           1.99-22.1
GRand Unified Bootloader (common files)
ii  grub-legacy                           0.97-66
GRand Unified Bootloader (Legacy version)

GRand Unified Bootloader, version 2 (PC/BIOS version)


I seem to remember that if I have grub2, then pygrub gets upset and
can't find the config - so I removed grub2 and I installed grub-legacy
just to make pygrub happy

However, as I don't really boot with grub, I'm not sure if it is
configured normally.

It would be good to either

a) have grub-legacy configured in some neutral manner that is just
enough for pygrub to work

b) have pygrub work without any real grub package in the domU
