yep, makes sense.

i'm pretty sure that i have used the --removable argument in the past.
i wouldn't have thought i used it against the built-in disk, but it's
certainly possible.

i'll give this a shot and report back when i have a chance to reboot.
At the moment, i'm booting from "legacy BIOS" mode from a USB stick, so
efibootmgr doesn't work at all.
