You symlinked /lib/modules to /boot/lib/modules ?

This looks like an incomplete install of kfreebsd-9.2-RC2.gz. Where's
opensolaris.ko? grub-mkconfig probably tried /lib/modules/9.2-RC2/
already, and failed.

grub-mkconfig aborts on errors, or at least used to. When that happens
it prefers to avoid messing your grub.cfg rather than risk creating an
incomplete/unusable file.
