Hi,
JFTR: there are already two upstream bug reports about this issue:
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=37020
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=39351
But they're just about the regression/change, not about adding
configuration possibilities (in /etc/default/grub) to restore the
previous behaviour(*). Hence they were both closed with a reference to
the current documentation.
(*) Which is in use in many entreprises and universities to prevent
users to root a system via editing the grub config.
Regards, Axel
