Question on man pages updates

Hi I find the current man pages are way too brief.
In particular I think it could really do some simple examples of
re-installing grub on a partition for recovery of a broken system
Also a few references to grub-mkrescue on making bootable USB sticks
and some detailed explanation of embedding versus blocklists which
would help a lot with the usage.
I am willing to work on supplying such patches but would patches for
the manual pages be acceptable?
I worry that developers are very wedded to the info documentation
system and are deliberately dissuading people from enhancing the
manual pages.
Should I make the effort.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Andrew
