Yes, it is.

I experinced the same issue on 2 Acer Aspire V13 PC's.

Updating GRUB to 2.02+dfsg1-2 and to 2.02+dfsg1-3.

Both PC's left unbootable.

Rescued with an install image + re-installing GRUB with the option --removable.

I saved the logs if you are interested.
